Somna I’m Stressed User Guide

When stress is active and you want a calmer path back, just say: Alexa, I’m Stressed.

Presets are the easiest way to use it. Somna remembers what you choose, so there is nothing to figure out in the moment.

Start here

If you are new, do this in order:

  1. Say: Alexa, ask I’m Stressed to browse presets.
  2. Move through the options with next preset or previous preset.
  3. When one feels right, say: use this preset.
  4. Optionally turn on Partner Mode if the room needs shorter, quieter responses.
  5. When you want support, say: Alexa, I’m Stressed.
  6. If you forget your setup, say: Alexa, ask I’m Stressed what are my current settings.

Optional voice shortcut

Different Alexa devices and generations may respond differently to a short phrase like “Alexa, I’m Stressed.” Some may open the skill, while others may give an unrelated response.

To make Alexa respond the way you expect, you can create a simple voice shortcut by saying:

Alexa, whenever I say I’m Stressed, open the I’m Stressed skill.

Alexa will confirm that it created a routine. After that, you can just say:

Alexa, I’m Stressed.

This shortcut may take noticeably longer to start because Alexa is running it through a Routine. The benefit is that the phrase becomes more reliable across different Echo devices.

When you use it

When you feel stressed, mentally tangled, physically braced, or inwardly urgent, say:

Alexa, I’m Stressed
(if the response is unexpected, go to All Commands for additional options.)

Somna uses your saved settings automatically.

Presets

Presets are the easiest way to start. They combine focus, length, and style so you do not have to manage separate settings in the moment.

Quiet Reset

Best for racing thoughts, overstimulation, and needing a quieter inward shift.

Uses: quiet mind · short · quiet

Body Settle

Best for physical tension, bracing, and nervous system activation in the body.

Uses: body calm · standard · grounding

Alexa, ask I’m Stressed to set preset to body settle

Soft Landing

Best for needing a gentle return to safety without pressure.

Uses: safe moment · standard · soft

Alexa, ask I’m Stressed to set preset to soft landing

Steady Return

Best for finding your footing again when urgency has taken over.

Uses: steady again · standard · grounding

Alexa, ask I’m Stressed to set preset to steady return

Ease Down

Best for pressure, overstretch, and feeling like too much needs your attention.

Uses: release pressure · short · soft

Alexa, ask I’m Stressed to set preset to ease down

Browse presets

You can browse through the presets one at a time before choosing one.

Alexa, ask I’m Stressed to browse presets Alexa, ask I’m Stressed for the next preset Alexa, ask I’m Stressed for the previous preset

When the current preset feels right, say:

Alexa, ask I’m Stressed to use this preset

That saves the preset and begins the script.

You can also choose a preset directly, but browsing is usually more reliable.

Partner Mode

Partner Mode is for shared spaces. When it is on, Somna keeps responses shorter and quieter.

You can also say shared space mode:

Alexa, ask I’m Stressed to turn shared space mode on

Advanced options

Most people can stay with presets. Length, style, and focus are optional settings for people who want more control.

Length

Length changes how much is said.

Alexa, ask I’m Stressed what is my length Alexa, ask I’m Stressed to set length to standard

Style

Style changes how the voice feels.

Alexa, ask I’m Stressed what is my style Alexa, ask I’m Stressed to set style to soft

Focus

Focus changes where the experience gently leads.

Alexa, ask I’m Stressed what is my focus Alexa, ask I’m Stressed to set focus to safe moment

Check your settings

If you want to hear everything currently selected, say:

Alexa, ask I’m Stressed what are my current settings

If you want to hear your current preset, say:

Alexa, ask I’m Stressed what is my preset

If you want to check Partner Mode, say:

Alexa, ask I’m Stressed what is my partner mode

The simplest path is still the best one: browse presets, use this preset, and let the skill remember it.
