Somna I'm Dreaming User Guide

Name your dreams. Let the night hold them. Just say: Alexa, I’m dreaming or schedule it to play while you're asleep.

I’m Dreaming is a quiet dream-board skill. You name three to five things you dream of having, becoming, or experiencing. Later, Somna reflects them back softly while the mind is resting or sleeping.

Start here

If you are new, keep it simple:

  1. Say: Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming to start dream board.
  2. Name three short dream phrases.
  3. Say: that’s enough.
  4. Say: save these.
  5. At night, say: Alexa, I’m Dreaming, or start it automatically from an Alexa Routine.

Short phrases work best. Nothing needs to be perfect or practical.

Create a dream board

Name three to five things you dream of having, becoming, or experiencing.

Important: Setup is conversational. After you open I’m Dreaming and it asks for your first dream, you do not need to keep saying “Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming...” Just say the dream phrase.

They can be simple. These are examples only:

You are not limited to these phrases. Say whatever matters to you, in your own words.

When Somna asks for a dream, the simplest approach is:

my dream is a peaceful home my dream is steady health my dream is creative success

If you prefer, Somna also understands:

one dream is financial freedom add deep love save creative success

Save your dream board

After three dreams, you can save them or add up to two more.

that’s enough save these

If you want to add more, keep naming them the same way. Somna accepts up to five.

my dream is financial freedom my dream is deep love

Playback

Once your dream board is saved, Somna can repeat your dreams back to you as quiet reminders.

Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming to review my dream board Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming to play my dream board Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming what did I save

The night script is slow, minimal, and permissive. It does not ask you to solve, force, or decide anything tonight. It simply lets the dreams become quietly familiar while the mind is resting or sleeping.

Scheduled Alexa Routine start

I’m Dreaming can be started automatically from an Alexa Routine. The start time is set in the Alexa app, not inside the skill.

If you use a sleep tracker, you may notice a general time of night when deeper sleep often occurs. You can try scheduling I’m Dreaming around that window.

Sleep trackers estimate sleep stages, so this does not need to be exact. The goal is simply to let the dream board play during a quiet part of the night, without waking you fully.

  1. Open the Alexa app and select More (top left).
  2. Then select Routines and go to Your Routines.
  3. Add (+) a New Routine and name it.
  4. Select the profile to be used and Save it.
  5. Add (+) an Event and Schedule the Time to be played.
  6. Add (+) a Custom Action and enter "Start I’m Dreaming" or "Start I'm Dreaming Skill."
  7. Select which device it is to be played on.
  8. Finally, select Finished.

For scheduled use, save your dream board first. When the Routine runs, I’m Dreaming goes straight to the quiet night script and reflects your saved dream items softly.

Routine-ready design

I’m Dreaming uses Alexa Routines for scheduling rather than becoming an in-skill reminder, alarm, or planner.

The skill saves the dream board. The Alexa app controls when the saved dream board is played.

This keeps the bedside experience simple: name the dreams, save them, and let the routine start the soft reflection later.

Why play it while resting or sleeping

I’m Dreaming is designed to keep the dream board low-effort. Instead of asking you to visualize or concentrate, it softly reintroduces what matters while the mind is quiet.

The dreams are spoken as reminders, not commands. The aim is to let them feel familiar, possible, and quietly yours.

No need to wake fully. No need to picture anything clearly. Just let the night hold it.

Advanced options

Most people only need to create a dream board, save it, and play it back. These commands are here when you want to review, reset, or repeat something.

Review what is saved

Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming to review my dream board Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming what are my dreams Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming what did I save

Replay

Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming to play again Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming to replay last

Start over

Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming to start over Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming to clear dream board

Partner Mode

If someone is nearby, Partner Mode adds a brief opening before a shorter version of the dream script so the experience feels gentler in a shared space (the full dream script is played when manually invoked or when Partner Mode is Off).

Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming to turn on Partner Mode Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming to turn off Partner Mode Alexa, ask I’m Dreaming is Partner Mode on

I’m Dreaming is simplest when used as a dream board: start dream board, name dreams, save them, play dream board, review what is saved, or schedule playback in the Alexa app.

FYI: You can also change Alexa’s voice in your device settings by saying, "Alexa, change your voice."
