Somna I'm Stuck User Guide

When the mind feels stuck, just say: Alexa, I’m stuck.

I’m Stuck is meant to stay simple. It gives the mind a little room without forcing a solution, a finished idea, or the right next thought.

Start here

If you are new, keep it simple:

  1. Say: Alexa, ask I’m Stuck to browse presets.
  2. Choose one preset, such as standard.
  3. If someone is nearby, turn on Partner Mode.
  4. When you feel blocked, say: Alexa, I’m stuck.

If you are not sure where to start, begin with standard.

Optional voice shortcut

Different Alexa devices and generations may respond differently to a short phrase like “Alexa, I’m Stuck.” Some may open the skill, while others may give an unrelated response.

To make Alexa respond the way you expect, you can create a simple voice shortcut by saying:

Alexa, whenever I say I’m Stuck, open the I’m Stuck skill.

Alexa will confirm that it created a routine. After that, you can just say:

Alexa, I’m Stuck.

This shortcut may take noticeably longer to start because Alexa is running it through a Routine. The benefit is that the phrase becomes more reliable across different Echo devices.

Getting unstuck

When you feel blocked, blank, or unable to begin, say:

Alexa, I’m stuck

Somna uses your saved preset automatically. There is nothing else to choose in the moment.

Presets

Presets are the main way to use I’m Stuck. They keep the experience quiet while letting you choose how much space you want.

Short

A brief opening when you only need a little room.

Uses: short · quiet · getting unstuck

Alexa, ask I’m Stuck to switch to preset short

Standard

A quiet reset for getting unstuck without forcing anything.

Uses: standard · open · getting unstuck

Alexa, ask I’m Stuck to switch to preset standard

Deep

A longer space for fragments, loose pieces, and beginnings.

Uses: deep · open · getting unstuck

Alexa, ask I’m Stuck to switch to preset deep

Browse presets

You do not need to remember every preset name. You can browse them.

Alexa, ask I’m Stuck to browse presets Alexa, ask I’m Stuck for the next preset Alexa, ask I’m Stuck for the previous preset

When you know the one you want, say:

Alexa, ask I’m Stuck to switch to preset standard

Replay

If you want the same experience again, use replay language.

Alexa, ask I’m Stuck to play again Alexa, ask I’m Stuck to replay last

Play again uses your current saved preset. Replay last repeats the last response when available.

Partner Mode

If someone is nearby, Partner Mode adds a very short opening before the main script so the experience feels gentler in a shared space.

It does not change the main preset. It only adds a brief preface.

Alexa, ask I’m Stuck to turn on Partner Mode Alexa, ask I’m Stuck to turn off Partner Mode Alexa, ask I’m Stuck is Partner Mode on

Check your settings

If you want to hear what is currently selected, say:

Alexa, ask I’m Stuck what are my current settings

If you want to hear your current preset, say:

Alexa, ask I’m Stuck what preset am I using

Most people can stay with presets. I’m Stuck keeps settings intentionally simple.

Length

Length follows the preset you choose.

Alexa, ask I’m Stuck what is my length Alexa, ask I’m Stuck to switch to preset deep

Style

Style is quiet and open. I’m Stuck does not add a busy style menu.

Alexa, ask I’m Stuck what is my style Alexa, ask I’m Stuck to set style to quiet

Focus

Focus is set to getting unstuck. The skill is for creating a little space around a block, not forcing a finished answer.

Alexa, ask I’m Stuck what is my focus Alexa, ask I’m Stuck to set focus to unstuck

I’m Stuck uses the same Somna family command style as the other “I’m ...” skills: browse presets, choose a preset, play again, replay last, turn on Partner Mode, or check settings.

FYI: You can also change Alexa’s voice in your device settings by saying, "Alexa, change your voice."
